New version of Google Mobile App for iPhone
Google announced yesterday that the new version of their Google Mobile App is available on iTunes. In the new version, they have a redesigned search results display that shows more results at once and, more importantly, opens web pages from the results within the app. This update will get you to what you need faster. This is a good move considering how long new page results take to appear.
Other update feature which should grab the attention of you international readers out there is being able to use the app’s voice to search functionality in your own accent or language. For example, if you’re Australian but live in London, you can improve the recognition accuracy by selecting Australian in the Voice Search settings. And now both Mandarin and Japanese are supported languages as well.
Finally, and this is hardly likely to get you too excited, but nice to have all the same, Google has added a few UI tweaks and visual surprises to make searching by voice a little more entertaining. I’ll let you discover those for yourself.
